Using the Animation Principles of Squash and Stretch In Drawing Webcomics

Using the animation principles of squash and stretch when drawing character poses in my webcomic "Bloodwing Angel Chronicles" gives them a subtle feeling of dynamic plasticity and action. Check out this page from this week's Sunday update. Also, note the use of "Anticipation, Action, and Reaction" in this sequential art depiction of tossing a rock with force and anger.

  1. Out of curiosity, if Mychal was ever voiced, what would you picture their voice being like? I could picture them being voiced by a female, but still having a slight sense of masculinity to it. It's something I tend to do with certain comics, think up what a character's voice would sound like or who would voice them.

  2. I'm curious, what sort of voice did you have in mind for Mychal? I can personally picture it being a female voice with a hint of masculinity.

    1. Sorry for the delay in responding, Landon. In my mind, Mychal's voice ranges from speaking from her upper throat (higher/female) to speaking from his diaphragm (lower/male). The softness/forcefulness and types of words used would also indicate which aspect of Mychal's personality is presenting itself. Hope this makes sense to you.
